DNM Design Precision 2 Speaker Cable - NO LONGER AVAILABLE
Precision 2 sets the highest standard of audio resolution in a compact cable that is ideal for smaller audio systems with sensitive loudspeakers (over 89dB/watt). Its magnetic performance is designed to give a balanced capacitance, inductance and resistance - factors that, when correctly aligned, improve the driving amplifier's sound quality.
Four 0.8mm diameter high purity oxygen free copper conductors are positioned above the plane of the cable ribbon to reduce the Q, the insulation dielectric effect and the cable capacitance.
In appearance Precision 2 cable is equally advanced : its semi-transparent ribbon is fully colour coded by the insulation sheaths on the conductors.
New in the Precision 2 design is a third layer of neutral grey insulation used along the length of the cable to hide the colours so the ribbon visually blends into its background. The cable's ribbon is only 19.5mm wide x 2.2mm thick, about the same size as the original DNM mono Solid Core.
Within this small size a 4 conductor cable is enclosed that can be used to connect a pair of stereo speakers, or to bi-wire one speaker. The ribbon is designed to separate easily into two speaker lines, each with 2 conductors, to allow connection of the left and right speakers.
The recommended way of using Precision 2 cable is as follows :-
Determine the cable directionality by noting that the print runs in the same direction as the signal. At the amplifier end separate the cable enough to allow the plugs to be plugged into the amplifier. Then run the ribbon complete (without separating it) as far as possible to the speakers to gain the full performance benefit of the fixed spacing of all the conductors. Run the cable along the planned path to the furthest speaker before cutting it to length. Then separate the cable's ribbon into the two channels back to the point midway between the speakers to allow connection to the left and right speakers.
This cable is sold by the metre (continuous) containing 4 conductors - This can be used as a mono bi-wire metre, or a stereo single-wire metre.
