The Psvane WE101D/101D-L Replica tube is developed to allow 101D amp owners to experience the full potential of 101D tube amplification, without having to spend thousands of dollars. As the original WE101D has a different tube pin size and such a socket is hard to find, Psvane replica tubes offer two tube pin options – one (WE101D Replica) is exactly like the original Western Electric 101D with 4 smaller/shorter pins; the other (WE101-L Replica) has longer pins like a 300B tubes and it can be used with a standard 300B type of tube socket (2 thicker pins, 2 thinner pins).

A few things you must pay attention to before you swap your current 101D tubes to the Psvane WE101D/101D-L Replica tubes:

1) Filament Voltage / Current:

There was a small trial batch of Psvane WE101D Replica tubes was made for filament voltage 4.15V and filament current 0.5A in late 2013 and was launched in the Chinese market. This may not work with some amps as the 101D full spec is 4.5V/1A. Please be extremely careful when purchasing tubes from unknown sellers from Asia. If they actually stocked the lower filament voltage/current tubes and sold to you, you may run into problems with your amp.

All Psvane WE101D / 101D-L Replica tubes that we stock and offer for sale will be from new production run manufactured in Feb 2014 and thereafter, with full filament voltage 4.5V, and filament current 1A. This is interchangeable with all original Western Electric 101D tubes and Full Music 101D tubes.

2) Tube Sockets:

Take a look at your 101D tube socket – if it is the same as the original Western Electric  101D socket (for 4 smaller shorter pins), you need to order the WE101D Replica. If your amp’s 101D socket is like 300B socket (two larger pins, two smaller pins, all 4 are longer as indicated by the diagram below), you need to order WE101D-L.
