Pre-payment of Duties & Taxes

For shipments to non-UK addresses, you may be liable to pay import VAT and duty, and a handling/processing fee once the parcel arrives at the country's border. This is payable to the country's customs department through the shipping carrier, who will be in contact with you directly.

HiFi Collective will not pay these charges or notify you of the required payment. If you are in the EU, please read the section below to learn whether you can pre-pay these charges.

We currently do not offer pre-payment of tax outside of the EU.

Pre-Payment of Import VAT and Duty For EU Customers

For our EU customers, we offer the opportunity to pre-pay your import VAT and duty when you order through the website. Exclusions apply and are listed below.

In most cases, this will speed up the transit times and may save you from paying the courier/postal company a handling charge.

Some destination countries still apply additional handling/processing fees to the service. We define whether you are a business customer by your billing address.

Please Note: If you select the pre-paid option but do not meet the conditions listed below, duties and taxes will not be added to the order total, and you will be required to pay them upon import.

DHL GlobalMail

  • Individuals must pre-pay up to €150. Individuals cannot pre-pay tax and duties over €150
  • Businesses are not able to prepay duties and taxes on any amount

DHL courier services

  • Individuals can pre-pay duties and taxes on orders totalling any amount
  • Businesses can pre-pay duties and taxes on orders when the total is over €150

UPS courier services

  • Individuals can pre-pay duties and taxes on orders up to €150
  • Businesses are not able to prepay duties and taxes on any amount

FedEx courier services

Individuals

  • Under €150, you are able to prepay duties and taxes
  • Over €150, you can prepay duties and taxes. Unless you are in one of the countries listed below,
    • Portugal, Bulgaria, Greece, Slovenia, Estonia, Slovakia, Latvia or Romania

Businesses

  • Under €150, you are able to prepay duties and taxes. Unless you are in one of the countries listed below,
    • Portugal, Bulgaria, Greece, Slovenia, Estonia, Slovakia, Latvia or Romania
  • Over €150, you can prepay duties and taxes

Latvia: Pre-payment of duties and taxes is currently disabled for all shipping methods (2023 onwards)
