As discussed in our Blog - Choosing The Right Stepped Attenuator For You, the ladder version of stepped attenuators gives the best performance. However, they are more expensive and bigger as they require an extra switch wafer per channel than the other alternative. This is the lowest-cost mono ladder that we stock, using the NOS Audio Note 2-pole 23-way switch. 

We offer the option to choose from 15 different resistor types for this kit.

Dimensions

Shaft: 6mm diameter x 13mm length

Bush: 10mm diameter x 12mm length

Body, including resistors fitted (internal part): 45mm x 52mm (oval shaped) x 35mm height  

The front of the switch does possess a "non-turn" metal lug of 3.5mm diameter x 5mm in length that protrudes through the front panel, so provision is needed. If not required, this can be removed with cutters. If not, a 3.5mm diameter hole 13.5mm from the centre hole of the shaft is required.

Due to the range of values for the Audio Note resistors, we can only supply the 50K, 100K, and 250K options. For the Takman resistors, we can only supply the 25K and 50K versions of the Carbon Film and the 20K, 25K, and 50K versions of the Metal Film.

  • NOS Audio Note 2-pole 23-way switch
  • Selected resistor set (44 resistors)
  • 0.2m x HGG 0.5mm diameter wire
  • 0.15m x 0.5mm PTFE sleeving
  • 1m x Mundorf 3.8% silver/gold solder

For the 0.5W resistor, 0.4W Charcroft resistor and 2W AMRT kit versions, we supplied with

  • NOS Audio Note 2-pole 23-way switch
  • Selected resistor set (44 resistors)
  • 0.2m x HGG 1mm diameter wire
  • 0.15m x 1mm PTFE sleeving
  • 1m x Mundorf 3.8% silver/gold solder
