Mini Electronic choke
The mini electronic choke offers astounding performance at staggering small volume, weight, and price. Applied in power supply filters for pre-amps and small power amps in valve equipment, it offers up to 60dB of ripple rejection. A clean, distortion-free, and transparent sound is the result.
Measuring 16mm x 26mm x 15mm with 1mm dia. x 10mm, pitch 15mm leadouts. The maximum voltage IN is 8000Vdc.
MECs replace traditional chokes that generally work quite well, but suffer from serious disadvantages: high weight, big size & magnetic field radiation that induces hum in the circuit.
Designers Menno Vanderveen and Guido Tent decided for these designs after the positive response of the E-choke, in 2009. MECs typically fill the gap towards medium power amplifiers (MEC-200), smaller power amplifiers (MEC-100) and preamplifiers (50mA) where the E-choke is too big.
